Robert Baoma Kowa is a highly accomplished legal professional who currently serves as the Solicitor-General of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Assuming this prestigious position on January 19, 2021, Mr. Kowa officially subscribed to the Oath of Office on January 21, 2022.
Mr. Kowa holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Bachelor of Laws with Honors from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Admitted to the Bar in 2004, he became a practicing Solicitor and Barrister at R.B. Kowa & Associates Law Firm.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kowa has gained extensive experience in various legal areas, particularly excelling in drafting legal instruments, providing legal opinions, and offering expert advice on taxation and intellectual property law. His expertise and knowledge have made him an invaluable resource in the legal community.
Mr. Kowa has also served in several significant roles within the legal field. He contributed as a Committee member for the review and codification of the Law of Evidence, playing a vital role in shaping Sierra Leone’s legal framework. Additionally, he served as a committee member for the review of the Court Act, enhancing the country’s judicial system.
In 2018, Mr. Kowa was appointed as a Consultant State Counsel at the Justice Bankole Thompson Commission of Inquiry, showcasing his ability to handle complex legal matters at the highest level. He assumed the position of Chairman of the Income Tax Board Appellate Commissioners in 2019, demonstrating his leadership skills and expertise in tax law.
In the same year, Mr. Kowa was elected President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, serving with distinction.
